A Generalized Singular Value Inequality for Heinz Means
In this paper we will generalize a singular value inequality that was proved before. In particular we obtain an inequality for numerical radius as follows: begin{equation*} 2 sqrt{t (1-t)} omega(t A^{nu}B^{1-nu}+(1-t)A^{1-nu}B^{nu}) leq omega(t A + (1- t) B), end{equation*} where, $ A $ and $ B $ are positive semidefinite matrices, $ 0 leq t leq 1 $ and $ 0 leq nu leq frac{3}{2}.$
متن کاملAn Existence and Multiplicity Result for a Periodic Boundary Value Problem
A periodic boundary value problem for nonlinear differential equation of the second order is studied. Nagumo condition is not assumed on a part of nonlinearity. Existence and multiplicity results are proved using the method of lower and upper solutions. Results are applied to the generalized Liénard oscillator.
متن کاملA novel technique for a class of singular boundary value problems
In this paper, Lagrange interpolation in Chebyshev-Gauss-Lobatto nodes is used to develop a procedure for finding discrete and continuous approximate solutions of a singular boundary value problem. At first, a continuous time optimization problem related to the original singular boundary value problem is proposed. Then, using the Chebyshev- Gauss-Lobatto nodes, we convert the continuous time op...
متن کاملPositive Solutions for a Singular Third Order Boundary Value Problem
The existence of positive solutions is shown for the third order boundary value problem, u′′′ = f (x,u),0 < x < 1, u(0) = u(1) = u′′(1) = 0, where f (x,y) is singular at x = 0 , x = 1 , y = 0 , and may be singular at y = ∞. The method involves application of a fixed point theorem for operators that are decreasing with respect to a cone. Mathematics subject classification (2010): 34B16, 34B18.
متن کاملA generalized Lyapunov's inequality for a fractional boundary value problem
We prove existence of positive solutions to a nonlinear fractional boundary value problem. Then, under some mild assumptions on the nonlinear term, we obtain a smart generalization of Lyapunov’s inequality. The new results are illustrated through examples.
